Meet The Homesmiths

We are Bennett and Megan, a husband and wife team and parents of a toddler and an infant. Bennett is a full-time special education teacher, and Megan is a homemaker.  We currently live in a small house in town with a postage-stamp-sized backyard.  Our dream is to own land where we can build a homestead — a place where we can raise some animals and grow the majority of our food. Somewhere that our children will learn a different set of skills and responsibilities. Where we can entertain our families for generations to come.

We are currently paying down student loan debt, so we are treating where we are as a waiting room.  We are practicing our gardening skills, learning how to DIY as much as possible but with quality in mind, and living frugally so that we can one day be debt-free. We want to provide a different kind of life for our children, not better than our own, just different.
