What should I serve on the side of Apple Quesadillas?

A salad would be a great side dish for apple quesadillas. Here are some of our homemade salad dressings! Other side dishes include traditional french fries or homemade carrot fries! This would also be great dipped in sour cream.

How to make Savory Apple Quesadillas:

Ingredients:

4 10-inch flour tortillas

3 tbsps of honey mustard

½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup of shredded smoked gouda

Note: you need 1 cup of cheese, if you don’t have gouda use 1 cup of cheddar cheese.

2 cups of thinly sliced apples (cored)

Optional raw or sauteed onions.

Assembly:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with tin foil.

Arrange flour tortillas on the tin foil. This makes four servings, so depending on how you want to serve it, you can place two whole tortillas side by side and make two large quesadillas or fold each in half to do four halves. I did four half quesadillas.  Spread honey mustard on the entire tortilla. You can use less than called for but don’t use much more. If you use too much honey mustard, the cheese will not adhere to the tortilla and will slide out when you’re trying to eat it.

Spread the cheese on the tortilla. If you don’t have smoked gouda cheese you can replace it with more cheddar cheese. You can also experiment and use what cheese you have on hand or prefer. What other cheeses do you think would be good in this recipe? Let me know in the comments below! Place the thinly sliced apples on the quesadillas. If you have raw or sauteed onions, you can put them on now too. Fold the quesadilla onto itself or place the other tortilla on top.

cutting quesadillas

Bake at 350 for 4-5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bottom is crispy. Flip the quesadilla over and cook for another 3-4 minutes for the other side to crisp up too. Let cool for five minutes before slicing and serve. The apples are very hot and keep the whole quesadilla warm so if you’re making this for a crowd, you can make it so that it’s coming out of the oven about 10 minutes before you’re ready to serve.
