Sourdough mug cake is a fun way to have a small dessert that can be made in just a few minutes. We have a recipe for chocolate chip sourdough mug cake, which is one of our favorites! This peanut butter sourdough mug cake has just a few ingredient changes to give you some variety in your sourdough mug cake choices!
Should I use an active starter or discard to make sourdough mug cake?
I have used this recipe with both active starter and discard and you can use either one to make this sourdough mug cake. If you’re using discard, the sourdough flavor will be stronger, so just keep that in mind.
Can I add anything to this mug cake?
You can add a small spoonful of chocolate chips, or a small spoonful of baked, chopped apples. Add your mix-ins after you’ve added the sourdough starter and before you divide the batter into the two mugs.
How many mug cakes does this recipe make?
Just like our chocolate chip sourdough mug cake, this recipe makes 2 mug cakes. It was tested with and we make it using the weighted measurements. If you don’t have a scale though, I do have the measurements to make this using cups and teaspoons!
