Roasted Garlic Dip

This creamy roasted garlic dip is delicious and extremely easy to make. It can be served with chips, vegetables, or fries. Plus, you can increase or decrease the garlic taste to your preference!

How long does it take to make this dip?

It takes about 30 minutes to roast the garlic, and then you have to let that cool for about 20 minutes. Once the garlic is done it takes 5 minutes to mix all the ingredients together and then you let it chill for about 30 minutes. You can make the roasted garlic up to several days ahead of time to save you prep on the day of!

 

Can I add other spices to Roasted Garlic Dip?

Add any spices you enjoy! If you want to give it a kick, add about a ¼ tsp of crushed red peppers. You can also add dill to turn it into a Roasted Garlic Ranch Dip. We used dried chives from our garden this year. Check out other herbs that you can grow in your backyard!

 

How to make roasted garlic:

These are the same instructions for roasted garlic as in our Roasted Garlic Sourdough Recipe.

1 large head of garlic

1 teaspoon of olive oil

Pinch of salt

 

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Slice the head of garlic in half down the center. Place on a sheet of tin foil and drizzle the olive oil over the top of both sides of the garlic. Sprinkle each side with a pinch of salt.

Loosely seal the tin foild around the garlic and place in the oven for about 30-40 minutes, until the garlic is a golden brown color and soft to the touch.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool to a point where it can be handled.

Once you can pick up the garlic with your hands, squeeze the garlic cloves out of the skin into a bowl and mash with a fork.

 

How to Make Roasted Garlic Dip:

1 large head of roasted garlic, mashed

1 cup of sour cream

½ cup of mayo

1 tablespoon of chives

1 teaspoon lemon juice

½ teaspoon of black pepper

¼ teaspoon of salt

 

Combine all of the ingredients in a glass bowl. Salt needs to be adjusted to taste. If you are serving with only vegetables, you may want to add a bit more salt. If you are serving the dip with chips or bread, you may not need more salt.

Additionally, you can increase or decrease the quantity of roasted garlic in this dip to your family’s preference.

When the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, cover and place in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes to let the flavors infuse.  Serve chilled.
