Heat a large skillet on medium heat.
In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, salt, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
Soak the bread in the dairy mixture, for about 30 seconds per side (if it’s not fully submerged) or about 45-60 seconds if it's fully submerged.
Put about a tablespoon of butter or oil into the hot pan and once melted, place the bread on the skillet. Lower the heat to medium-low.
Wait until the first side gets nicely golden brown before flipping the bread over. You only want to flip the bread one time.
Repeat until you’ve cooked all of the slices of bread.
