Mojito Mocktail Recipe

This mojito mocktail recipe is the perfect refreshment for any time of day. We particularly enjoy it all summer long with our fresh mint from the garden. We may even have to try growing mint indoors so that we can enjoy it in the winter.

Fresh From the Garden Mint Tea

What is a mojito?

A traditional mojito consists of rum, sugar, lime juice, mint, and club soda. Our mojito mocktail recipe gets replaces the rum and the club soda with tonic water.

The Homesmiths Drinks

What is tonic water?

Tonic water is a carbonated drink with quinine in it that is sweet with a bitter taste. Quinine is developed from the bark of a specific tree and has been used as an antimalarial treatment.

Do I have to use tonic water in this Mojito Mocktail Recipe?

You don’t! We have substituted plain seltzer water for tonic water. Seltzer water is unsweetened, so you can add a teaspoon of sugar or a simple syrup to the drink to sweeten it. We like the tonic water because there is a slightly bitter taste that reminds us a bit of the aftertaste of rum.

Can I add anything to the Mojito Mocktail recipe?

Absolutely! Add sliced strawberries or crushed blueberries to give it an extra fruity spin. Other fruits you could try are mango and pineapple. You can also add basil for a different herbal note.

If you want to add a kick, add a thin slice of a spicy pepper!  Another option is to have flavored seltzers to change up the flavors.
