This peanut butter mocha breakfast smoothie is a delicious and quick drink to make. It has 7 ingredients and can be made in under 10 minutes!
This smoothie is one I’ve been making for our family for at least a year now. We love it and always want more. We call it a breakfast smoothie because it has peanut butter, milk, bananas, and coffee, plus a few more ingredients. Our family really enjoys it in the summer because it is quick to make and doesn’t require a bunch of clean up or heating up an oven! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
What kind of bananas should I use in breakfast smoothies?
This recipe calls for frozen bananas. That means that when your bananas are starting to go bad, peel them, and then place them in a freezer bag in the freezer until you’re ready to use them! They don’t have to be on the edge though, if you know you’re going to want this smoothie the next day, just freeze whatever bananas you have. Without the peels!
What kind of coffee should I use in Peanut Butter Mocha Breakfast Smoothies?
Cold coffee is the only specification that I have for this recipe. It can be leftover coffee that you put in the fridge or cold brew. Whatever you have on hand!
I don’t like peanut butter, can I use something else in this recipe?
These Mocha Breakfast Smoothies benefit from the flavor, texture, and protein that peanut butter has to offer. That being said, you can do an equal replacement with an alternative nut butter. Don’t omit the peanut butter or your drink will be runnier.
Do I have to use cocoa powder in Peanut Butter Mocha Breakfast Smoothies?
You don’t need to! I know several people who hate chocolate. You can easily omit the cocoa powder and instead, just make this a Peanut Butter Banana Coffee Smoothie, which may sound weird but will be equally as good. You could also add in a splash of vanilla extract if you would like to bring in a new flavor because of losing the chocolate flavor.
Why would I put salt in a breakfast smoothie?
Salt is a flavor enhancer. It helps to balance out desserts and it rounds out other flavors. If you’re worried about it, you don’t need to add it.

How to Make Peanut Butter Mocha Breakfast Smoothies:
Gather all of the ingredients in a blender. The bananas should be broken in half at least if not cut smaller if possible. Blend the ingredients for about 90 seconds or until it’s fully smooth.
This recipe is listed as making 2 servings, but I would say it could comfortably serve 3 people. My husband and I each have a full glass and our children drink half of a cup.

Wow this looks so good! I agree that almond or oat milk would be delicious in it. Thank you for the straight forward recipe.
Personally oat milk is my favorite but I haven’t had it on hand in a while.
